London: Victoria and Albert Museum
London days 2016. Victoria and Albert Museum
Things to Do in London: V&A Museum
I’m going to try to explain to you all why V&A museum of art & design, is my favorite place in London, in general.
When entering this breathtaking space (indoor & outdoor), it is as if the whole world suddenly makes sense. Like everything of importance to me is located in this building and all I need to do is to walk in it and explore it. I simply feel like I belong. And this my friends is everything!
You can view collections of rare 17th-century gowns, 18th-century ‘mantua’ dresses, 1930s evening wear, 1960s day wear and post-war couture. View collections of Textiles and Fashion, which spans a period of more than 5000 years, from Predynastic Egypt to the present day. View extensive collections of theatrical designs, memorabilia, books and photographs. View collections of objects from East Asia, South and South-East Asia, and the Middle East. They are rich in a broad range of artistic media and illustrate many different aspects of religious, courtly and everyday life AND learn what these little things in the second picture from the end of the post are: They are called Inrō and they are the most common type of container in the late 16th century in Japan. In time Inrō became the ultimate male fashion accessory.
Do you understand now? Can you feel it? Have you visited Victoria and Albert Museum?
Tell me all about it!
